Chapter Thirteen

Jessie was hustling tonight. There were more customers than usual, and they were all messing with Cole by getting a little too close to her. He’d been sending out warning growls all night long while they laughed at him.

She loved this club from the wooden bar that shone like it was polished every day, to the relaxed sections for people to meet and spend time together. There was an old-fashioned jukebox the only thing in the club that didn’t scream money or sophistication.

Sometimes she would dance before she caught herself and the whole club would give her that look. It scared her at first. She felt like they were claiming her, turns out they were, but as a family.

Xander ordered a drink as the door opened and Ven and Avel walked in. He was the new Alpha of the Thalians. Cole explained to her earlier that the Kur’iks were all green eyed while the Thalians were all gray eyed.

They walked up to the bar and leaned close to Cole whispering something. He called for Declyn and Enzo. Declyn was the Alpha and Enzo was his beta. They walked out and she decided now was a good time to get that drink.

“Hi, Xander wants a drink. He says a shot of the red and a chaser. What’s happening here?”

“Nothing,” Avel said averting his gaze.

She turned to look at Cole who couldn’t look her straight in the face.

“I see, I better get this drink over to him.” She walked away keeping her back stiff. She thought she was done with being on the outside, but it looked like she was wrong.
